EU Affairs Manager
to join our EMEA PA & Regulatory Affairs team in Brussels.
In this position, you will be responsible for representing Neste's views to the European institutions, covering the wide range of Neste renewable and circular solutions, mostly in road transport, but also in other segments. You will devise and implement advocacy strategies and build alliances to advance the up-take of renewable-based solutions through legislation. You will work closely with a wide range of internal - e.g. global PA team, experts from our sales, communications, sustainability teams - and external stakeholders - e.g. EU policy makers, public authorities, industry representatives, trade associations etc.

The day-to-day responsibilities will notably include:
- Formulate advocacy strategy and carry out advocacy campaigns to advance Neste’s renewable products solutions at EU level. Key EU legislative files of relevance for this role include the Renewable Energy Directive and related secondary legislation, the Light Duty Vehicles & Heavy Duty Vehicles CO2 Standards, the Energy Taxation Directive, and the Emission Trading System.
- Proactively engage with policy makers, and represent Neste in policy events, meetings with EU policy makers, and other stakeholder fora
- Actively manage collaboration with some of our trade associations, support and expand networks, and represent Neste vis a vis key external stakeholders
- Recognize and handle emerging regulatory issues or opportunities and translate regulatory information into business insights
- Closely monitor any new policy development that may be of relevance to Neste, and swiftly inform the relevant team members
- Ensure that Neste is firmly embedded in the EU stakeholder landscape, recognised as a trusted advisor and thought-leader in renewable and circular solutions.
You will report to the Head of Public and Regulatory Affairs, EMEA, who is based in Brussels.
Keys to success in this role
The successful candidate will need to display a good mix of the following experiences, skills and personality traits:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in government affairs, advocacy, or policy/regulation making, with direct exposure to relevant sectors such as road transport, energy, automotive, fuels, etc.
- Degree e.g. in political science, international relations, business development, or any other directly relevant academic field
- Thorough understanding of EU and/or national environmental, energy, transport and climate change policy and the related political systems and stakeholder landscapes; ability to translate policy developments into business insights and opportunities.
- A natural ability to connect with people, and to efficiently communicate technical and complex issues, also to non-expert audiences
- A rock-solid team spirit, and a healthy dose of humour
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English, and ideally at least one other EU official language, preferably Italian.
