Public and Regulatory Affairs Manager

to join our EMEA PA & Regulatory Affairs team in Berlin or Düsseldorf (Germany).

You will aim at identifying and promoting opportunities in the political, legislative and regulatory environment, as well as managing risks, with an initial focus on Germany and Austria. Other countries in central and eastern European region may also need to be monitored. In this job you will work closely with a wide range of internal - e.g. global PA team, experts from our sales, communications, sustainability teams - and external stakeholders - e.g. policy makers, local authorities, industry representatives, trade associations etc.

More about the job

Your role in our team

  • Drives execution of PA activities; responsible for impacting external environment (policy & regulators) across markets & businesses/ functions

  • Represent Neste vis a vis key external stakeholders

  • Coordinate at regional level to ensure Neste ONE voice & ensures flexible time/ topic allocation

  • Manage local consultants to seek further specialised regulatory knowledge as needed

  • Engage with local authorities as needed

  • Develop (in alignment with the regional head) the local PA & regulatory strategies & aligns priorities

  • Identify, build and lead effective coalitions, working groups, or partnerships

  • Develop advocacy tools

  • Provide intelligence to businesses & functions

  • Interpret policy and legislative changes and key stakeholder developments for the organization to further assess

  • Tracks, communicates, and documents legislative proposals and requirements to internal stakeholders


Keys to success in this role

  • Degree on political science, international relations, business development, or any other directly relevant academic field 

  • Several years of experience in advocacy, policy/regulation making, ideally with direct exposure to relevant sectors (transport, energy, automotive, fuels, etc.)

  • A natural ability to connect with people, and to efficiently communicate technical and complex issues, also to non-expert audiences

  • A rock-solid team spirit, and a healthy dose of humour 

  • Responsible attitude and safety-oriented mindset

  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken)
