Category Lead, Real Estate Management (REM)

 

to our Procurement team in Espoo, Finland.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Category Lead, REM to develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies for our REM categories. As the Category Lead, REM, you will be responsible for optimizing value, managing supplier relationships, and driving innovation within the real estate areas. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and procurement colleagues to ensure alignment with business objectives and deliver significant cost savings and operational efficiencies.

Your role in our team 

 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for REM categories (e.g., facility management, consultant services, property maintenance, real estate asset management, construction services, business premises and lease agreements) based on market analysis, spend analysis, and stakeholder needs.
  • Lead the end-to-end sourcing process, including information gathering, RFx development and management, negotiation, contract management, and supplier selection.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide strategic sourcing guidance.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, and ensure they meet quality, cost, and service expectations.
  • Negotiate, draft and review procurement contracts with suppliers to achieve favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, service levels, and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor supplier performance, manage supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the REM categories.
  • Collaborate with legal and risk management teams to ensure contracts comply with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Drive cost savings initiatives and track realized savings against targets.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of procurement policies, processes, and tools.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in REM procurement.

The best combination to succeed in this role

 

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Real Estate Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated 10+ years of proven experience in strategic sourcing and category management within facility management, consultant services, property maintenance, real estate asset management, construction services, and business premises, including a verifiable track record of successfully leading complex categories.
  • Deep understanding of the market trends, service models and technologies within facility management, consultant services, property maintenance, real estate asset management, construction services, business premises and lease agreements.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing category strategies that have resulted in significant cost savings and value creation.
  • Strong skills in negotiation, contract drafting, and supplier management.
  • Experience working with e-procurement tools and technologies (e.g. Sievo and Coupa).   
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of financial principles.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Finnish.
