Category Specialist, Energy & Utilities
to our Global Procurement team
You will support end-to-end category management within Energy & Utilities, consisting of electricity, steam, hydrogen, natural gas and other industrial gases. In this job you will work closely with Neste colleagues such as Category Leads, Legal Counsels and Operations representatives globally.
In our team, you will collaborate on strategic sourcing initiatives, drive supplier performance, and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our Energy & Utilities procurement processes. Together with you and your expertise, we can make an impact today and keep our promises for tomorrow.
Your location can be either in Finland at our Espoo HQ or the Netherlands at our refinery in Maasvlakte or office in Hoofddorp.

Your role
- Market Analysis: Analyze energy and utilities markets relevant to our core spend categories.
- Supplier Analysis: Evaluate specific companies within these markets, conducting tailored analyses to understand sourcing alternatives, supplier profiles, cost structures, and offerings.
- Spend Analytics: Perform historical and predictive spend analysis to identify savings opportunities and develop improvement strategies.
- Contract and Pricing Management: Maintain up-to-date category contracts and pricing, develop automation where possible. Manage smaller purchase requisition (PR) to purchase order (PO) processes.
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Support: Contribute to SRM activities by providing data on supplier supply, quality, and cost performance. Ensure supply continuity with appropriate quality and pricing, including managing supplier claims.
- Strategic Sourcing Participation: Engage together with the category leads in strategic sourcing initiatives, savings projects, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management, as well as related reporting.
- Stakeholder and Supplier Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders jointly with category leads, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement.
The best combination to succeed in this role
- Analytical and Financial Capabilities: Strong analytical skills, proficiency in data modeling, and a solid understanding of basic financial analysis.
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Business.
- Relevant Work Experience: Proven experience in roles related to energy, energy markets, or utilities.
- Energy Market Knowledge: Understanding of current energy market trends and technologies.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and preferably the local language of the hiring location.
