Hourly employee, Time Charter Operator

to our Chartering team in Espoo, Finland for a fixed-term position starting as soon as possible until April 30, 2027. 

You will focus on our Time Charter vessels. In this job you will work closely with the Chartering Managers, Time Charter vessels, Commercial Operations and our Commercial Operations Support team. This is a part-time position between 22,5-37,5 hours per week.

In our team, you will closely work together with the Chartering Managers and other stakeholders in a dynamic environment. You will be the person who is in day to day contact with the vessels and you are the go-to person for questions related to the vessels making sure that the vessel operations continue smoothly and efficiently. Together with your expertise, we can do meaningful work to drive Neste forward.

Your role in our team

Some of the features for the role;

• To independently and proactively coordinate and drive day-to-day shipping operations and optimal operational planning of the Time Chartered vessels by Neste Shipping OY. Manage owner relationship and act in line with the Charter Party, other related contracts and compliance in the domestic & international oil & renewable business

• Handling end to end daily operations of the time chartered vessels and keeping in contact with all the relevant parties. Including relevant system entries.

• Optimizing operational planning and operational performance of the vessels.

• Proactive continual improvement mindset for the shipping operations processes, executing the improvements and keeping relevant documentation up to date

• Direct impact to Neste financial reporting & targets through optimization of the time chartered fleet. Planning, safe operations & ensuring on time shipments. Safety, customer & supplier experience is secured

• Dynamic environment and requirement for timely operations, demanding problem solving with continuous & last minute changes. Global work environment with different time zones & out of office hours availability.

• Operative decisions in accordance with the Charter Party and Neste guidelines & procedures

• Development and optimization of ship operations processes, tools and contracts (with support from Fleet & Performance Manager)

• Always considering the best reputational & financial impact for Neste & our partners. Mitigation & efficient operations, have an impact on Neste variable costs. 

• Having efficient ship operations processes supports also commercial operations teams with their work.

• The cost of operating 6 time chartered vessels is 50-150 MEUR/year

Keys to success in this role / The best combination to succeed in this role

• Compatible with Neste’s vision, values and strategy.

• Experience, knowledge and understanding of the maritime logistics with tankers

• Commercial awareness - ability to understand drivers of the commercial trade & associated P&L. Knowledge of tanker charter parties.

• Knowledge of IT systems used in Shipping (IMOS, Beacon52, Google tools)

• Fluency in written & oral English, preferably also local language skills.

• Flexible and right attitude to work also at inconvenient hours

• Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with different parties

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or education in a relevant area, e.g. from maritime, logistics or commercial side. Maritime experience and training is preferred.
