Manager, Technical Optimization


to join our commercial Polymers and Chemicals team in Espoo, Finland.


The purpose of the commercial Polymers and Chemicals team is dedicated to tackling one of the biggest challenges facing the world today: the environmental impact of fossil-based materials. We have developed a powerful solution in Neste RE, a product that leverages renewable and recycled raw materials to replace conventional fossil feedstock in plastics and chemicals. By using waste and residues like used cooking oil and plastic waste, we are not only reducing the carbon footprint associated with fossil resources but also creating new value streams and contributing to a truly circular economy. 

 

As a Manager, Technical Optimization, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our customers and suppliers. You will create optimal solutions for both parties by translating technical requirements into viable commercial solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, leading technical optimization activities across our global organization. Your in-depth knowledge and experience in steam cracking and polymer feedstocks will be essential as you help shape a new, sustainable industry. You will report to Saana Puumalainen, Head of Supply, Chemical Recycling, located in Espoo.

Your role in our team

 

  • Technical support for sales and supply teams

    • Facilitation of Neste products fit to steam cracking operations and validation of renewable and circular feeds for material production

    • Customer-facing technical advisory for circular and renewable products and feedstocks

    • Value optimization on products and feedstock

    • Recognizing technical optimization opportunities and driving improvements

    • Close cross-functional alignment in quality related technical aspects across various units and organizations e.g. supply, R&D, production, logistics, operations, and sales

 

  
The best combination to success in this role

 

  • A  deep technical background in steam cracking and polymer feedstocks (ideally PhD)

  • Proven ability to translate technical complexity into commercial decisions

  • Strong cross-functional understanding across R&D, supply, production, and sales (R&D background with a strong business acumen)

  • A proven track record of supporting sales of polymers and chemicals and working with related technologies.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, and preferably in Finnish
