Manager / Senior Specialist, Credit & Counterparty Risk

 

to join our Credit Management team in Espoo.

 

The cross-border team located in Espoo and Houston is responsible for credit and counterparty risk management for Neste group companies globally. Our purpose is to enable Neste’s business transactions by clearing counterparties, extending credit, and arranging collateral and other risk mitigations as efficiently as possible. Your role in our team


  • Act as a leading expert for credit and counterparty risk at Neste globally, providing subject matter expertise, training and support for key stakeholders 

  • Manage Neste’s credit limits to customers and other counterparties: Conduct analysis, make independent credit decisions and prepare proposals for senior leadership

  • Solve any credit-related issues in cooperation with commercial teams

  • Negotiate credit-related terms in Neste’s sales and supply contracts

  • Manage Trade Finance arrangements including Letters of Credit and guarantees in cooperation with banks, customers and suppliers. Liaise with banks to ensure that optimal bank facilities and tools are in use.

  • Manage new counterparty compliance approvals as well as risk status updates for existing counterparties: Identify, assess and escalate high risk findings, and facilitate further risk assessment and mitigation liaising with other expert teams

  • Drive process development, digitalization and automation as a global process owner

  • Develop the principles and methods for efficient and proactive credit and counterparty risk management. Liaise with commercial teams to ensure forward-looking view and clarity on requirements.

  • Drive analysis and reporting on risk exposure and develop process KPIs

 

The exact contents of the role will partly depend on the expertise, experience and interests of the selected candidate.


The best combination to succeed in this role

  • A Master’s degree in a suitable field, e.g. Economics, Accounting or Finance

  • Extensive experience from similar duties in e.g. a bank or a large corporate, preferably in an international environment working with business teams

  • A thorough understanding of different forms of credit and counterparty risk

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills, including the ability to summarise and communicate complex issues quickly, concisely and clearly

  • Strong ability to impact and influence others including senior leadership

  • Proactive, self-starter attitude with interest in personal development

  • Ability to remain professional and focused under pressure

  • Courage to challenge opposing views and to suggest new ways of doing things

  • Experience in Power BI or other reporting tools

  • Fluency in spoken and written English

  • Responsible attitude and safety-oriented mindset


Other strengths we value

  • Experience in Trade Finance, e.g. managing Letters of Credit or guarantees

  • Experience in Counterparty Compliance / Know-Your-Counterparty

  • Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets

  • Advanced understanding of SAP processes

  • Skills in data analytics or process development

  • Demonstrated skills in driving successful teamwork
