Technology Manager (Concept lead)
to join our COO Office function, working within the Lignocellulose team.
This role offers the unique opportunity to lead the conceptual development of an innovative new lignocellulose-to-fuels technology. You will work closely with R&D, engineering, business development, and external partners to bring this breakthrough to realization. In this role you will lead the design team but also solve complex technical problems yourself.
This is an opportunity to be part of a cross-functional, entrepreneurial team, driving one of Neste’s key long term growth programs. Your contribution will play a significant role in developing and validating a new technology platform that unlocks access to previously untapped waste & residue raw materials, supporting our ambition to grow as the leader in the renewable fuels sector.

Your role in our team

Technical Leadership: Lead the engineering team and coordinate work across R&D, modeling, external partners and business stakeholders to ensure successful scale-up and commercialization of the technology.

Concept Design & Engineering: Develop and optimize process flow schemes. Design novel engineering solutions and technologies, also where no precedent exists. Perform and oversee engineering activities such as heat and material balance calculations, simulations, and initial equipment design

Scale-up Risk Assessment: Lead efforts in assessing and mitigating scale-up risks

Partner Management: Interface with external partners including Licensor and equipment vendors, commenting on their work and ensuring that Neste’s objectives are met. Liaise with internal stakeholders, e.g. Refineries in topics such as siting, hydrogen and utilities.

Safety: Coordinate the new technology’s safety work with internal stakeholders
The job is located in our Espoo head office. Spending considerable time also in Kilpilahti, Porvoo is a prerequisite. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas.
Keys to success in this role

M.Sc. in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Extensive experience from the chemical process industry, including concept design or technology development, with experience in several projects, including roles as a project lead

Experience from projects in oil refining or petrochemicals

Leadership experience

Strong leadership, collaboration, team-building and interpersonal skills.

Responsible attitude and safety-oriented mindset

Effective stakeholder management and communication skills in English both verbally and in writing

Experience from process industry operations as well as commissioning and start-up is appreciated

Finnish skills are a benefit as it makes collaboration with the refinery smoother
