We are looking for a Head of Wholesale & Trading to join our Renewable Road Transportation Americas Sales team in Houston, Texas.

Renewable Diesel sales and trading in the wholesale segment is an integral part of the RRT Americas business. The Head of Wholesale & Trading is critical to the realization of our growth ambitions as a key supplier of renewable fuel in the Americas. You are closely connected to internal stakeholders like Strategy, Business Development, Pricing, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Public Affairs and Marketing departments and sales teams from other regions to ensure our service level is meeting or exceeding the requirements of our customers.
In this role, the Head of Wholesale & Trading will lead commercial accountability in the wholesale segment, this may include but is not limited to credit trading, physical trading and related risk mitigation. The position holder will have the leading responsibility to generate and grow the wholesale business with creativity, optimize volume allocation across channels to deliver overall profit optimization and execute RRT Americas and Global long term strategies.  This role will serve as the “quarterback” integrator in the RRT Americas sales and business teams.

Your main responsibilities include

  • Review, challenge and continuously develop the RRT Americas’ participation strategy in the wholesale segment by anticipating market needs while proactively recommending and executing strategy to ensure our business is well adapted to changes.
  • Champion change management processes to ensure corporate readiness to optimize industry development.
  • Coordinate and drive optimal volume balance across all sales channels to maximize profitability and strategy.
  • Lead the credit trading desk to ensure optimization and risk mitigation of renewable fuel related credit positions.
  • Manage performance and oversee the activities of account manager(s) and potentially credit trader(s)  while providing economic and strategic guidance to support key decisions
  • Explore and grow the client base in the wholesale and trading segment.
  • Build and oversee executive relationships with key wholesale clients to advance strategic, value-add partnering opportunities.
  • Actively manage the client portfolio via proactive interaction with key counterparts and execution of physical trading opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the Commercial Operations Team to ensure physical commitment performance and prompt solution identification to address customer needs and ensure issue resolution.
  • Lead commercial negotiations,  contract administration, demand forecasting, profitability analysis and overall improvement.
  • Collaborate with the entire Sales and cross functional teams to drive sales expansion into new territories or channels. Contribute inputs into RRT Americas regional business and market development in the areas of new sales concepts, product and service introductions, pricing and offers.
  • Manage communication and achieve alignment between key clients and internal teams. Represent the sales team in driving integrated planning to execute cross-linked corporate initiatives. 
  • Represent Neste in Industry forums and position Neste as the “Thought leader” on renewable and circular solutions.
  • Contribute into risk management for trading operations to mitigate risk for trading positions

Keys to success in this role
The best combination of experiences, skills and background Is

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in finance, business, economics, mathematics or relevant fields and minimum 7 years of trading experience preferably in renewable fuel trading. 3 years of experience in a trading leadership position.
  • Experience growing trading desks through extensive outright and exchange buy/sell activity. Proven skills in effectively leading cross functions to grow sales and generate optimal profit in the wholesale segments in commercial fuel distribution, fuel retail, and commercial and industrial end customer B2B segments.
  • Deep refining knowledge of the supply, production, distribution and demand dynamics, supported by strong market logistics insight.
  • Clear understanding of market fundamentals including arbitrage hedging and relevant pricing instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State renewable incentive programs, and knowledge of trading RINs, and LCFS carbon credits
  • Strong knowledge & relationships with counterparties in the North American renewable and petroleum refined products fuel market.
  • Strong knowledge of the North American renewable fuels carbon and tax credit programs, knowledge of other Central & Latin American fuel markets a plus.
  • Track record and passion in building long-term client relationships and growing customer business with proven results of delivering client solutions and meeting sales goals
  • Ability to quickly analyze data and sales statistics and translate results into better solutions
  • Effective verbal and written communication, negotiation, presenting, interpersonal, networking and deal development skills with a wide variety of audiences. Proficiency in Google and MS suite as well as experience with Salesforce (CRM)
  • Willing to travel 50% of time
  • Professional competency in English, both written and spoken; other languages a plus
