We are looking for you,
Fleet Mechanic,
to join our Maintenance and Operations team in Hector, Minnesota.
As a Fleet Mechanic, you will play a critical role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our diverse fleet of diesel trucks and equipment, directly contributing to Sterling Logistics' success, efficiency, and safety efforts.

Bonus Program
In this role, you will:
-
Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM): Execute routine inspections and PM on diesel tractors, trailers, and associated equipment.

Diagnose & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair engine, transmission, brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems using diagnostic software and tools.

Complete Documentation: Accurately document all repairs, parts used, and time spent using our fleet management system.

Ensure Compliance: Perform work in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
The best combination to succeed in this role:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Prefer: At least 2–3 years of proven experience performing maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment, along with a strong mechanical aptitude.

Required: DOT Annual Vehicle Inspection Certification, or the ability to obtain
-
Licensing: Valid driver’s license; CDL Class A strongly preferred but not required for mechanics.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds

Capable of working in constrained spaces and non-standard body positions (bending, kneeling, crouching) during vehicle repair and maintenance..

Ability to climb in, out, and around large trucks.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Environmental Conditions:

Ability to work both indoors (in the maintenance shop) and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Comfortable working with fluids, grease, lubricants, and potential fumes associated with truck maintenance.

Use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed (e.g., safety glasses, steel-toed boots).
We Also Value:

Prior experience with specific truck engines (e.g., Cummins, Paccar) or trailer maintenance (e.g., reefers, flatbeds).

Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, particularly with engine control modules (ECMs) and electrical systems.

Punctuality, strong work ethic, and a rigorous commitment to workplace safety.
