We are looking for a Renewable Feedstock Trader
to join our growing, developing and exciting RP Feedstock and Sourcing Trading team based in Houston, Texas or Hutchinson, Minnesota. In this role, you will be part of an international team, belonging to the Global Feedstock and Sourcing Trading organization in the Renewable Products business unit.The position reports to the Lead trader for Vegoils.
Our team is responsible for sourcing and trading sustainable feedstocks for Neste refineries including Martinez Renewables JV and to trade with other external customers in the region of North America and South America.

Your role in our team
This position will be accountable to trade Vegetable Oils like, but not limited to, Soybean Oil, Canola Oil, or Distillers’ corn Oils in the Americas Region.
Trading and Operational

Negotiate needed contracts with suppliers and trade with counterparts to ensure business needs and as per your Delegation of Authority

Execute hedging as per book strategy

Work to optimize the logistic/supply chain cost

Ensure all trading activities comply with relevant regulations and maintain accurate documentation of trades and contracts.

Liaise and collaborate with multiple internal business units locally and globally including Global Optimization, SCM, Supply, Trading, and Operations, Shipping, Middle office, Sustainability and Market Compliance,

Supplier Relationships

Develop and take lead on supplier relationships, including identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with key decision makers. Actively work towards the consistent increase of supply counterparties available in the geography under their responsibility

Follow supplier segmentation exercise, develop a plan/relationship per supplier according to potential impact to Neste

Play a key role in driving sustainability and regulatory awareness

Market Analysis

Monitoring and communicating market trends, supply and demand dynamics, competitor activities, and pricing fluctuations to identify trading opportunities

Strategic

Work as part of the Global Feedstock Organization to develop Neste’s positioning in the markets to increase feedstock supply portfolio in the region (including e.g NVO)

Develop accurate market information/analysis on biofuels and feedstocks markets to provide insight to the team

Support Regulatory and Sustainability Agenda in line with Global/Local Policies

The best combination to succeed in this role (Experience and Competences)

Education: Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Business, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture)
-
Direct experience in physical Vegetable Oil trading (3 years) or in managing Crushing margin and plant optimization
-
Direct experience in executing hedges
-
Truck &/or Rail logistics knowledge is clearly a plus
-
Willingness to grow in the biofuels feedstock trading industry

Fundamental understanding of vegetable oil markets: This includes knowledge of different types of vegetable oils (e.g., soybean oil, palm oil, rapeseed oil), supply chains, and pricing mechanisms.

Analytical skills: Ability to analyze market data, identify trends, and make informed trading decisions.

Negotiation skills: Ability to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers and customers.

Communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Risk management skills: Understanding of hedging and other risk management techniques.

Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to trading operations.

Proficiency in trading platforms and financial software: Knowledge of trading platforms, market analysis tools, and financial software for analysis and reporting

One additional foreign language like Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
