We are looking for you, Middle Distillates Trader, to join our Middle Distillates Trading team in Houston.  

 

Neste’s Middle Distillates Trading team is an international team with traders in Geneva, Houston and Singapore. The team has a strong footprint in Europe and successfully developed its activities in Asia & Americas.


The team is responsible for middle distillates products exports from our Porvoo refinery outside Scandinavia as well as supply from the markets to our system. The team has the trading mandate to create additional proprietary trading and leverage on synergies with system flows


In addition, we collaborate closely with various teams in renewable business units by supplying jet and diesel to our blending activities (California, Europe, Singapore) as well as sharing our market expertise.

 

You will focus on the middle distillates flows in the Americas. In this job you will work closely with Oil Product and Renewable commercial teams as well as supply chain management, shipping, operations, risk and other departments.

Your role in our team 

  • Understand and Coordinate the Americas MD Team’s trading exposure and liaise to validate daily exposure and daily MtM fluctuations with Risk Team
  • Steering & communicate the planning for hedging with risk team & world wide trading team
  • Manage and execute hedging of Americas oil products positions
  • Build and update analytical tools (S&D, ship tracking, fundamental analysis, etc) in collaboration with the global team to develop market views
  • Support America trader and the rest of the team on system and proprietary trades
  • Prepare the analysis and process for negotiations on spot & term sales & purchases
  • Keep daily contact and build internal bridges between different business units and different offices worldwide
  • Build relationships in industry (analysts, traders, etc) 

 

Keys to success in this role

  • Relevant commercial or technical education (e.g. Bachelor/Master's degree in economics, engineering, chemistry or a related field).
  • 4-6 years experience in distillates or light end trading - ideally covering USGC
  • Background in operations and/or risk highly valued
  • Strong interest on fundamentals of oil markets
  • Strong analytical & commercial skills.
  • Ability to build bridges (inside and outside)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong team ethic and willingness to ask and learn
  • Be accomplished in written and spoken English, other languages are a plus
