We are looking for you,

 

Manager, Operational Performance

 

to join our JV Excellence and Asset Development team in Martinez, California. Neste’s regional headquarters in North America are based in Houston, Texas. Neste and affiliated entities, including Mahoney Environmental Services and SeQuential Environmental Services, employ more than 900 people across the U.S.

 

You will be responsible for managing and optimizing the long-term supply chain and operational performance strategy for the Martinez refining facility. This includes overseeing both feedstock delivery and product shipments. By collaborating with engineers, operations teams, logistics professionals, and stakeholders from both Neste and Marathon Petroleum, you will play a key role in enhancing efficiency and overall business performance.

In addition, we offer 

 

  • A competitive base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $140,000 - $180,000. This location is a higher cost of living and therefore may not reflect the range of this same position in another location.
    Individual base pay depends on work location related to premium locations with higher costs of living as well as additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training
  • 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family
  • 401(k) with a 7% company match
  • Hybrid schedule: Work remotely 1–2 days per week, with 3 in-office days for collaboration

 

 

Your Role in Creating a Sustainable Future

 

As the Manager, Operational Performance, you will:

 

  • Optimize logistics operations to enhance refinery productivity 

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the facility operator against key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Develop expertise in applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., LCFS, RFS, CFPC 45Z) and apply this knowledge to assess and prioritize capital projects

  • Manage logistics contracts, including renewals, regulatory compliance, and approval processes

  • Align logistics strategies with both Neste and Marathon Petroleum teams to ensure efficiency and effectiveness

  • Collaborate with third-party logistics service providers to ensure contract fulfillment and negotiate terms for new opportunities

  • Work with site engineers to coordinate OSBL (outside battery limits) project scope and priorities

  • Provide professional reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) to the JV Leadership Team

  • Conduct financial analysis to assess project feasibility and optimize supply chain decisions

  • Facilitate technical support from both Neste and Marathon Petroleum in collaboration with site technical services personnel


 

The Best Combination to Succeed in This Role

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or Environmental Science

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical services, supply chain, logistics, economics & planning, or refining operations

  • Comprehensive understanding of logistics operations (marine, rail, truck, and pipeline) for feedstock and refined products

  • General understanding of regulatory requirements affecting logistics in California and beyond

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence without direct managerial authority

  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a passion for problem-solving and continuous improvement

  • Experience with enterprise systems such as SAP (preferred)
