(Senior) Manager, Operational Readiness & Assurance Excellence (OR&A)

 

We are hiring an Operational Readiness & Assurance Excellence (OR&A) professional within the Investment Project Excellence team/Competence Center department.

In this role, your core challenge is to further develop our owner-operator key capabilities, ensuring requirements for asset operability, maintainability, and reliability are systematically embedded into early project phases. You will focus on developing global OR&A processes and practices, enabling our project teams to eliminate startup delays, optimize life-cycle costs, and secure long-term asset value. 

You will interface globally across Neste’s businesses and functions, bringing people together and bridging the gap between project planning, execution teams, and operations. Through this close collaboration, you will drive the predictability and efficiency of our plant investment projects.

The position is based in Kilpilahti/Porvoo*, Finland, or Rotterdam, Netherlands. We support a hybrid model, requiring at least three days per week at the office to ensure seamless collaboration and a strong sense of belonging.

*Kilpilahti is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas.

Your role in our team

 

As part of the Project Excellence team, your focus is on development, governance, and capability building rather than direct project execution. Your responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Global Framework Development: Developing and structuring global OR&A principles, standards, and work guidelines to equip project teams with world-class tools.

  • Implementation & Change Management: Driving the global rollout and adoption of OR&A practices by applying structured Organizational Change Management (OCM) methods, ensuring project teams are coached, aligned, and brought into the new ways of working.

  • Assurance & Continuous Improvement: Establishing measurement frameworks, KPIs, and regular assurance reviews to track process compliance, verify that changes are sustainable, and capture long-term lifecycle value.


Keys to success in this role

 

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Extensive understanding and experience of OR&A processes, operational HSE, and best practices in capital investment projects, with a proven ability to translate this knowledge into scalable organizational standards. 

  • Strong advisory and coaching mindset, with a passion for driving change through influence, sparring, and collaboration within a global matrix organization.

  • Proven track record of leading development projects and implementing sustainable, step-change improvements in project systems by applying strong Change Management methodologies. 

  • Performance-driven, co-operative attitude, and drive for excellence in developing competences and processes, including a constructive approach to challenging current practices

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use project data and benchmarking standards to drive efficiency and predictability

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to build commitment to new ways of working, influence stakeholders at various levels, and facilitate knowledge sharing across a global organization. Full professional proficiency in English (spoken and written)

 

Professional Certification (e.g. PMP, IPMA) or similar project management certification is considered a significant advantage.
