Automation and Instrumentation Lead Engineer

to our Owner's Engineering team in Porvoo refinery, Finland.

As our Automation and Instrumentation Lead Engineer, you will leverage your expertise by defining the plant investment projects' scope for your discipline in Pre-Study and Feasibility -phases. Once entering the Definition -phase and forward, our Engineering partners will be responsible for the Engineering package. At this stage you have an integral role between the Engineering partner and internal stakeholders. Most importantly, you will you will look after Neste's interests.

The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo, which is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas.

Your role in our team


  • You will define the plant investment projects' scope for your discipline in the Study -phases.

  • Look after Neste's interest in the Definition -phase and forward, while our Engineering partners will be responsible for the Engineering package. 

  • Support and ensure adherence to agreed quality, scope, time, and safety standards.

  • Drive continuous improvement of our procedures, instructions, and specifications.

  • Proactively develop your technical expertise and leadership capabilities within a supportive environment.


Keys to success in this role

  • Experience in process instrumentation engineering (5+ years) or other related instrumentation/automation/maintenance field (8+ years).

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering or other related field.

  • A proactive and solution-focused mindset with a strong drive to achieve results.

  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across diverse teams. Experience in leading and guiding a design team.

  • Experience in making a project hour and cost estimates for instrumentation (and automation).

  • Experience in instrumentation (and automation) design activities, encompassing instrument sizing and selection, conducting purchasing activities, defining work packages, wiring designs for hazardous areas, and performing field engineering.

 

We also value Finnish language skills and experience in project management. The main focus is this position is instrumentation, automation skills are a bonus.
