We are looking for

(Senior) Managers, Investment Project Excellence.

We are hiring for three separate Investment Project Excellence roles within the Investment Project Competence Center department. We are seeking Managers and Senior Managers whose deep subject matter expertise lies in one or more of the following critical areas: Project Systems, Project Management, or Operational Readiness and Assurance (OR&A).

You will focus on structurally improving project execution performance by assessing, developing, and implementing a strengthened project system for plant investments at Neste – helping us to achieve our North Stars; safety, predictability and efficiency in our projects. In this job you will work closely with Neste’s global project planning and execution teams, as well with the key stakeholders both in businesses and functions. 

In our team, you will drive the predictability and efficiency of plant investment projects by governing the Neste project system. The position ensures that project teams are equipped with world-class standards to execute capital investments successfully.

The positions are based in Kilpilahti/Porvoo*, Finland, or Rotterdam, Netherlands. We support a hybrid model, requiring at least three days per week at the office to ensure seamless collaboration and a strong sense of belonging.

*Kilpilahti is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas.



Your role in our team

All three positions include the following responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the "Neste One Way of working” Project system for Plant investment projects, acting as the owner/author of Execution models, tools and templates.

• Identify performance gaps within the current system and lead the implementation of development projects to drive step-change improvements and maintain industry benchmarking standards

• Analyze Project Intelligence data, including project specific troubleshooting, to enhance efficiency and predictability of plant investment projects and drive continuous improvement

• Facilitate workshops and participate in Reviews

• Lead the adoption of new ways of working by conducting trainings and proactive mentoring

• Coach and support project teams through a Community of Excellence, embedding implementation of effective ways of working across the organization  

These positions focus on the following distinct areas of expertise:

• Project Systems Excellence: This role maintains and develops the "Neste One Way of Working" Project System for plant investment projects, acting as the Owner/author of Execution models, tools, and templates, with a singular focus on developing this Project System as its core expertise.

• Project Management Excellence: This role focuses on developing Project System and Project Management competencies, including key processes for project execution, construction management, and project control.

• Operational Readiness Excellence (OR&A): The core focus is developing and implementing structured OR&A principles and processes for our plant investment projects. This includes, for example:

  • Operational requirements (e.g., safety, operability, reliability, maintainability, ergonomics)

  • Management systems & permitting

  • Commissioning, handover, and startup

  • Governance of OR&A

Keys to success in these roles

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

• 10+ years of relevant experience in Project Management, OR&A or Project Systems/Control within large energy or process industry investment projects

• Extensive understanding and knowledge of Project Systems, Project Management, or OR&A processes and best practices in capital investment projects

• Proven track record of leading development projects and implementing sustainable step-change improvements in project systems

• Performance-driven, co-operative attitude, and drive for excellence in developing competences and processes, including a constructive approach to challenging current practices

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to use project data and benchmarking standards to drive efficiency and predictability

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build commitment to new ways of working and facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization

• Full professional proficiency in English (spoken and written)

• Professional Certification (e.g. PMP, IPMA) or similar project management certification is considered a significant advantage
