Master’s Thesis Worker


to join our technology development team in Neste’s Engineering Solutions unit


The subject of your thesis is related to a study of the development of the operation of a wastewater treatment plant. This is a temporary position of 6 months. The work would preferably start in September 2023.


The work includes a literature review and applied part. The study includes examination of different wastewater origins and conditions affecting them. Also the emission levels need to be cleared out if one of the purification steps would be left out. After these the chemicalization and optimisation of the operation should be sorted out.

The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo, which is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas.


The best combination to succeed in this role

 

  • Academic studies (e.g., MSc program) in process or chemical engineering
  • Knowledge of  process design basics (PI diagram, heat and mass balance, equipment sizing, etc.)
  • Experience from industrial wastewater treatment plant operations
  • Capability to identify and evaluate data from public sources
  • Clear and compact report writing skills
  • Willingness to learn new things
  • Good self management skills (organising and managing your tasks to meet deadlines)
  • Other strengths we value
  • Work experience in process design or production in chemical, oil, food or similar industries
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Positive mindset
  • Structured way of working
