Join our mission at Neste, a leader in renewable and circular solutions. We're looking for a motivated Process Development Engineer to join our Technology Development team in Porvoo on a fixed-term contract until the end of June, 2026.
This is a crucial role to support our ongoing success in renewable technologies and an excellent opportunity for both fresh graduates and those with a couple of years of relevant work experience to gain hands-on expertise in a dynamic, global environment.
Our team of experts in Renewable Processes, part of the Technology & Innovation function, is at the forefront of developing NEXBTL technology—the core of our proprietary process for producing hydrocarbons from renewable oils and fats. This technology is vital for creating sustainable fuels, polymers, and chemicals.
You will be involved in projects across the full development chain, from early lab-scale R&D and pilot testing to conceptual and feasibility studies, and providing direct support to our existing production sites globally.

The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo, which is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas. Neste also offers a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of three office days per week to ensure effective team collaboration and on-site project support.
Your role in creating a sustainable future

Contribute to technology development & engineering projects, from initial technology evaluation to conducting conceptual and feasibility studies

Support R&D by helping to design experiments and pilot testing campaign

Drive continuous improvement efforts for our existing renewable products refineries in Finland, the Netherlands and Singapore

Participate in concept development within technology development and investment projects focused on low-carbon and renewable solutions

Collaborate actively with a global network of process engineers, R&D specialists, modeling experts, and engineering disciplines to achieve Neste’s strategic goals
You will report to the Manager, Renewable Processes, and to project managers in a matrix structure.
The best combination to succeed in this role

M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent field

Knowledge of thermochemical conversion, catalytic processes, or bioprocesses

Good data analysis skills

Fluent written and spoken command of English

A hands-on, proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn new technologies quickly

Motivation to do practical project work and reporting tasks

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders

Advanced self-leadership and an organized approach to managing tasks

A responsible, safety-oriented mindset
We Also Value:

Relevant process engineering experience in oil refining, petrochemicals, or chemicals

Knowledge of renewable fuel processes and associated unit operations

Experience in process design activities (e.g., material and heat balance calculations, equipment sizing), modeling, and/or simulation
