Senior Manager, Materials
to our Chief Engineering Competence Center in the Refining Competence Center. The job is located in one of our locations, preferably within the same location as our production facilities, i.e. Kilpilahti, Porvoo; Maasvlakte, Rotterdam or Tuas, Singapore. This is a full-time, permanent position.
The Chief Engineering competence center is a team consisting of different engineering disciplines. The team is responsible for the standards and specifications which are applied in Neste. The tasks in the team include seeking of new technologies, developing and benchmarking the best practices and securing correct technical requirements within the strategic partnerships.
Besides working closely within the team, in your role you will collaborate with reliability, maintenance, operations and design engineers. You will also be responsible to secure efficient and transparent communication with the experts of your discipline within the company. Being in the Senior Manager role, you will be in the leading position when making the crucial decisions in your field of expertise to secure a safe, reliable and effective refinery. Together with your expertise, we can do meaningful work to drive Neste forward.

Your role in our team

Acting as the leading expert within the materials discipline in Neste, which includes the framework where the projects or maintenance activities are carried out taking into account the total cost of ownership.

Responsible for correct technical content in frame agreements and close collaboration with procurement related to vendor selection within Neste.

Owner of the technical specifications in Neste for the materials engineering discipline. Setting the requirements regarding safety, availability, maintainability and operations in collaboration with asset management, operation teams and design engineers via the specifications within Neste.

Supporting refineries as the leading specialist of materials solutions in cooperation with the design engineers and site personnel. Providing primary expertise for material solutions to refineries while cooperating with fellow specialists across diverse business units. Working alongside high-level experts to guarantee the seamless integration of technical material requirements throughout our global refining operations.

Development and ownership of discipline technology best practices and benchmark them against the industry standards.
The best combination to succeed in this role

Relevant technical degree, e.g. materials engineer or similar. Preferably B.Sc or higher.

As a senior manager role the successful candidate should bring relevant 15+ years of industrial experience in materials engineering or management. This can be from e.g. design, maintenance and/or operations. Preferably a combination of these.

Solid knowhow on material solutions and requirements in a refinery environment.

Relevant project experience and knowhow of the requirements in different project phases in an investment project.

Fluent spoken and written English.

Demonstrated skills to effectively collaborate, communicate and lead people of different backgrounds.

Ability to obtain techno-economical elements from created solutions and specifications.

Safety mindset and create long lasting safe solutions.
Other strengths we value
As the refinery world is going towards carbon neutrality one key replacement will be electrical solutions. Hence knowledge of novel electricity based solutions to reduce carbon footprint is considered as a benefit.
