We are looking for you,
Senior Process Development Engineer (Wastewater Treatment)
to join our Process Technology Development and Modelling department in Porvoo, Finland.
As a Senior Process Development Engineer, you will contribute to enabling new renewable and circular feedstocks to be introduced to refineries and to refinery transformation towards carbon neutral production by providing wastewater treatment substance matter expertise to projects. Our department is responsible for development of NEXBTL and other renewable and circular feedstock processes and wastewater treatment technologies through R&D and technology development projects. NEXBTL is our proprietary HVO technology for production of hydrocarbons from renewable oils and fats for fuels, polymers and chemicals. We contribute to projects in their early development phases, from lab scale to feasibility studies and also support Neste’s production sites globally.

The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo, which is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas.

Your role in our team

Providing technical substance matter expertise in e.g. renewable diesel, renewable jet fuel, and liquefied waste plastic projects

Creating the early phase concepts and heat&material balances as well as the early phase process design for wastewater treatment concepts

Evaluating concept alternatives
-
Scoping the wastewater treatment related work together with stakeholders

Contacting equipment manufacturers
-
Supporting operations in test runs
-
Supporting projects in definition and execution phases as an expert

Supporting Business units in the decision making
You will work closely with other technology professionals, engineering disciplines, R&D, modelling experts, business stakeholders and other internal/external stakeholders to accomplish Neste’s strategic goals. You will report to Manager, Refining Processes and project managers in matrix in Porvoo.
Keys to success in this role

M.Sc. or D.Sc. in Chemical Engineering
-
5+ years of relevant industry process design / process development experience
-
Deep knowledge of WWT processes and process development and conceptual engineering (incl. material and heat balance calculations and unit operation specifications)

Experience of process design activities

Strong analytical skills, high motivation, commitment and ability to work independently

Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills

Fluent written and spoken command of English

Responsible attitude and safety-oriented mindset
