Senior Project Control Manager

 

to join our Project Controls team in Finland and work in Neste’s investment projects.

 

You will be part of the Project Controls management team and report to the Head of PC (project controls). You will work closely with colleagues in the investment project delivery, project execution teams and other functions to ensure the successful execution of the investment projects. 

 

The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo, which is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas. We have a hybrid working model in use and we have agreed to work both from the office and remotely.

Your role in our team

 

  • Accelerate the path of PC operations to the next level of maturity as a core member of our PC management team

  • Proactively identify opportunities, develop business cases, and lead initiatives to advance our Project Controls maturity through new systems, processes, and technologies.

  • Drive Implementation: Manage and coordinate PC development projects, ensuring successful implementation and adoption in close cooperation with Major Investment Projects, Investment Project Portfolios and Investment Project Excellence team, as well as the PC team managers and Head of PC.

  • Define and enforce global PC standards and best practices (cost, schedule, risk, change management) to ensure consistency and data integrity.

  • Capability to work as a Project Control Manager in our Major Investment Projects. 

 

The best combination to succeed in this role

 

  • Demonstrated experience (>10 years) within Project Controls disciplines (cost estimation, cost engineering, project planning) and Project Management. Proven competence in managing project controls for major capital projects.  

  • Strong knowledge and competence of Project Controls governance,process improvements,  data architecture, and reporting methodologies.

  • Proven change management and influencing skills; the ability to lead development initiatives and implement new ways of working.

  • Experience leveraging BI tools (e.g. Power BI) for Project Controls reporting and dashboards.

  • A strategic and visionary mindset, consistently seeking opportunities to leverage technology for improved project predictability and efficiency.

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or similar. Relevant professional certifications (PMP, CCP, etc) are highly desirable.

 

Other strengths we value

 

  • The ideal candidate possesses project controls experience from working in a capital projects portfolio 

  • Sound knowledge about international project business

  • Experience with SAP considered as an advantage

  • Good command in English, both spoken and written. As the position will be based in the Finland, Finnish language is considered as an advantage

  • Having worked closely with EPC(M) and execution contractors on capital  projects will be considered as an advantage;
