We are looking for you,

Senior Researcher / Researcher

to our Analytics and Chemistry Experts (ACE) team in the Research Analytics department in Porvoo. The position is a 9 months temporary position due to parental leave. 

You will focus on organic analytics, especially chromatographic and spectroscopic methods. The work is mainly structural characterization, data interpretation and research, including project work and troubleshooting. The understanding of organic chemistry is essential. The work is done closely with the ACE team and with cross-functional project teams from Technology & Innovation and Production.

The ACE team consists of more than 10 knowledge field experts. In our team, the work is done independently, but support to others and collaboration is essential for our success. Together with you and your expertise, we can make an impact today and keep our promises for tomorrow.

The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo, which is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas.

Your role in our team

• As a (Senior) researcher providing expertise in special analysis samples which can be from development projects, refinery, or from other origin

• Interpreting the data, combining and making conclusions from several analytical techniques for example GC-, LC-, NMR.

• Documenting, reporting and presenting results, findings and providing expert recommendations.

• Planning and supervising laboratory work, and calculating and analyzing test results.

• Developing and validating methods for analytical equipment.

• Acting responsibly according to Neste safety culture: interfering unsafe actions and reporting deviations.

Keys to success in this role

• Master’s degree or higher in organic or analytical chemistry

• For Senior Researcher position several years working experience in addition to the PhD degree 

• Strong experience in organic analytical techniques especially GC-MS and NMR

• Complementary experience in other organic analytical techniques (for example, LC,GPC, LC-HRMS, IR )

• Solid knowledge and experience in data analysis and processing the data 

• Experience in the method development, validation and project work

• Fluent English

• Responsible attitude and safety-oriented mindset

Other strengths we value 

The ideal candidate will possess deep understanding in organic chemistry, broad knowledge in various analysis methods, coupled with strong data processing and analysis skills. It is advisable to have experience in working according to international standards. Moderate Finnish language skills are beneficial since the work environment is multilingual, and in Finland.
