We are looking for you,
Summer trainee in Mechanical engineering
to our Mechanical engineering team located in Porvoo, Kilpilahti. We are a team of 13 professionals dedicated to inquire and acquire various mechanical equipment to our refineries in Porvoo, Rotterdam and Singapore. Now is the time to learn about mechanical design and manufacturing for large scale industrial production. The trainee will have an excellent opportunity to deepen its knowledge in either pressure equipment, rotating equipment or thermal equipment.

Your role during the summer
You will support your team and get the opportunity to deepen your own expertise in the following areas (depending on your interest and knowledge):
Static equipment:
-
Impact on the design of acquired static equipment (reactors, columns, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers including strength calculations etc.)
Rotating equipment:
-
Impact on the design of acquired rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, mixers, turbines)
Thermal equipment:
-
Thermal engineering (Electric heaters, furnaces, heat exchangers and related thermal calculations).
As a Summer Trainee, at the mechanical engineering function your tasks include:

Learn basics of engineering project environment and procurement support activities.

Participate in technical expediting activities of mechanical equipment manufacturing.

Develop new and better engineering tools, templates, procedures and ways of working.

Update technical documentation related to the above mentioned equipment such as work instructions, procedures, purchase requisition templates, typical drawings, 3D modelling and 2D drawing creation.

Updating various technical metadata and parameters into our Product life cycle and product data management systems for various projects.
And you will be working in close cooperation together with internal and external stakeholders such as:

Your own mechanical team consisting of static, rotating and thermal equipment experts in Porvoo, Rotterdam and Singapore.

Other discipline members from layout and piping, process, automation, material, civil teams.

Members in various projects.

Possibility to get in touch with external manufacturers and vendors.
The best combination to succeed in this role
-
On-going studies in Mechanical, Industrial or Environmental Engineering at a university or university of applied sciences.
-
Basic understanding of pressure equipment, rotating equipment or thermal equipment and related global standards such as (EN, ASME, API, PED, MD codes and various international regulations).

A curious mind and a taste for problem solving.
-
Communication skills in English.
-
Some experience of updating technical documentation and working in our PLM/PDM systems.
We also value earlier work experience in the field of mechanical engineering (not mandatory)

Previous mechanical or industrial design, or project work experience.

Experience in CAD tools (AutoCad, Inventor, MicroStation or others)
-
Experience in calculation tools such as PV-elite.

Good command of spreadsheet tools (MS Excel and/or Google Sheets)

The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo, which is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. On weekdays, we organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas. More information here.
The position follows the collective agreement for senior salaried employees. If you are in the early stages of your studies, the minimum starting salary is 2350 EUR. Your salary will also depend on relevant work experience and, for students, the number of completed course credits. We welcome applications from both current students and those who have graduated after 1st January 2025. Please note that you must be at least 18 years old at the start of employment. The summer job typically takes place between May 1 and September 30, 2026.
