Summer trainee, Engine laboratory

Your role during the summer

You will support your team and get the opportunity to deepen your own expertise in experimental research and Neste’s fuel products. 

As a Summer Trainee in the Engine laboratory, you will support engine researchers and laboratory technicians on fuel product development projects.You work in close collaboration with - and receive guidance from -  our department’s world-class experts. 

Your main tasks include:

• Literature reviews and information searchers

• Analyses and summaries of research data

• Hands-on support in Engine laboratory’s experimental work

The best combination to succeed in this role

• You are currently studying or have studied engine technology, vehicle technology, mechanical engineering or a similar, relevant field

• Good communication skills in Finnish and English

• Motivation to learn and deepen your knowledge in research and fuel products

• Some practical experience of engine or vehicle technology is an advantage

• We also value earlier work experience in experimental research but it is not mandatory

The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo, which is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. On weekdays, we organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas. More information here. 

The position follows the collective agreement for salaried employees. If you are in the early stages of your studies, the minimum starting salary is 1800 EUR. For graduates, the minimum starting salary is 2202 EUR. Your salary will also depend on relevant work experience and, for students, the number of completed course credits. We welcome applications from both current students and those who have graduated after 1st January 2025. Please note that you must be at least 18 years old at the start of employment. The summer job typically takes place between May 1 and September 30, 2026.
