For our Rotterdam Refinery we are looking for a Technical Manager to join the management team. 


Your part in the Neste journey


The Technical Manager is responsible for directing and controlling the refinery´s operations/production area(s), to achieve the short and medium-term financial and operating objectives set by the overall business plan. All achievements should be serving customer expectations in a safe manner. The Technical Manager ensures application of a rigorous and disciplined approach to all process engineering work processes in a transparent way and supporting a culture of continuous improvement. The Technical Manager works according to the management system and ensures together with other MT members follow-up, performance monitoring and closure of PDCA loop and continuous improvement of the business processes. You are responsible for developing, maintaining and reporting performance scorecard for operations related processes. You will be part of the SIMT (site incident management team).


The Technical Manager is responsible for


  • Responsible for safe and efficient execution of technical- and engineering activities.

  • Promotes risk based thinking in all area’s and business processes.

  • Ensuring safe execution of all project related works. Ensures high integrity of refinery for safety, compliance and availability

  • Responsible for implementation and acceptance of best practices in the area of Safety and compliance to support the safety culture.

  • Ensures all hazard analysis on modifications are executed against right standards

  • Proactively sets project portfolio in order to have a continuous rolling forecast aligned and communicated in time together with corporate project function

  • Supports safe, efficient and effective execution of projects and change proposals. As per PIPE model

  • Setting and monitoring the performance of all key processes for the department

  • Ensuring that risk management principles are met.

  • Lead performance by continuous dialogue and development. Link targets and KPI’s to strategy and business needs

  • Develops people and enables their results.

  • Develop and implement a variety of operating principles and procedures (in conjunction with subject matter experts) to ensure that the production area meets its current and future production targets and quality standards.

  • Site leadership based upon customer focus is driving the agenda of Maintenance & Engineering

  • Leads continuous improvement in own department

  • Enhances, supports continuous improvement on the site to structurally improve site key business processes.

  • Drives cooperation with other RP production locations and ensures alignment in terms of relevant processes


The best combination of experiences, skills and background is


  • Minimum 10 years' experience of process plant operations, maintenance, development or engineering with at least 5 years managerial experience

  • BS.c. or higher technical education, preferably in Chemical or Process engineering

  • Strong people leadership capabilities and commitment to continuous improvement

  • Co-operation and influencing skills enabling successful working with multiple stakeholders during different phases of the project

  • Innovative mindset to approach challenges from different angles and being creative in coming up with solutions

  • Strong planning and organizing skills and result oriented mindset to plan and meet the project targets
