Construction Managager

 

 

to join our Investment Project Execution & Governance (IPEG) team in Netherland (Rotterdam) and work in Neste’s investment projects.

 

Supports (the) Project Manager(s) in reaching the goals of one or more simultaneous projects in construction-related matters. ● Responsible for the execution of the construction phase in terms of safety, quality, schedule, budget and relationship with the site organisation. 

In this role you will support the Project Managers in reaching the goals of one or more simultaneous projects in construction-related matters. You will be responsible for the execution of the construction phase in tems of safety, quality, schedule, budget and relationship with the site organisation.


Your role in our team  

  • For construction execution the Construction Manager is responsible for safe and successful execution of the construction works on the projects assigned. 

  • During early stages of a portfolio project, the Construction Manager acts as a construction expert, leads and hosts the constructability reviews, construction hazard analysis and provides constructability/construction plans.

  • Organizing reviewing and field checking job definitions by project construction team. 

  • Managing the construction of the project according to Neste operating model safely in compliance with agreed project construction scope, schedule, cost and quality. 

  • Leading a team of 2-10 Neste Supervisors, work planners and 2-150 construction contractor staff/workers. 

  • Tracking project’s construction scope, schedule and costs for changes and corporate with the discipline engineers, cost controller and project manager. Prepare field change orders (FCO) for any deviation and lead the approval process. 

  • Sharing Construction Management best practices within the organization and project.

  • Providing input for Cost Estimation (e.g. needed Construction Management/Supervision hours, scaffolding quantities, cranes). 

  • Heading the technical part of the contractor bid evaluations and contract negotiations. 

  • Resourcing the project Construction Team together with the Construction Team Lead.

  • Reporting construction schedule progress or status according to agreed principles. 

  • Managing the supervisory work of different work types in the installation, construction and start-up phase. 

  • Leading Construction Meetings with project contractors. 

  • Releasing executed work in Neste’s ERP-system for payment. 

  • Ensuring red-pen as-built documentation and relevant quality documentation before Mechanical Completion. 

  • Preparing and leading the Mechanical Completion process and subsequent forms. 

  • Acting as a focal point for contractor technical queries. 

  • Ensure that Construction activities fulfil site safe working practices and procedures and that all required documents e.g. (but not limited to) Task Risk Analysis (TRA’s), Override Forms, Work Permits are in place, have been agreed upon and are signed off by stakeholders.

The best combination to succeed in this role

 

  • B.Sc. in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the construction of process plants 

  • Overall knowledge of multidisciplinary elements in construction

  • Strong communicator, strong stakeholder management skills

  • Fluent in Dutch & English
