Neste Netherlands is part of the Finnish parent company Neste. The plant in Rotterdam produces renewable fuels. Together with 200 colleagues we are working everyday to operate, maintain, and improve the plant in an efficient and safe manner. 


We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer Rotating to join the Engineering department in Rotterdam(Maasvlakte).


Your part in Neste journey 


The Maintenance Engineer Rotating monitors the performance of all equipment in the discipline, maintains, reviews and updates all preventive maintenance plans ensuring legal compliance and their efficiency in line with overall business strategy. The Engineer will also act as Rotating Equipment Site Expert Lead for major projects. As such he will be part of the owner’s team.


Responsibilities include:

  • Owns the Installation Management Concepts, Spare part philosophy and IT tools such as the inspection documentation tool
  • Maintains, develops, reviews and updates all PM plans for Mechanical
  • Adjust PM plans based on internal standards and procedures such as HazOp 
  • Provides input on rolling cost for PM plans to maintenance supervisor
  • Develops plans to maintain functional safety level and legal compliance 
  • Assists and leads RCFA in the relevant discipline
  • Proposes and initiated plant and equipment improvements
  • Participates in project teams and leads “small” projects
  • Reviews technical improvements
  • Ensures the (technical) quality of the work carried out, handing over the technical aspect of the modifications to the Production Department
  • Device performance monitoring system where relevant
  • Develops and measures key performance indicators for all equipment in the discipline


Responsibilities as Site Expert Lead for major projects:

  • Packing delivered and storage at the site as for project schedule
  • Development of pre-commissioning and commissioning plans
  • Developes training discipline related training content & approves the final training material
  • Engineering design reviews until As-Built release
  • Assist and supervises installation, alignments and all tests required
  • Track and review progress through meetings
  • Assist in summarizing and updating on site records
  • Conducts site observation surveys and prepares field reports on the status of projects and completion of projects with respect to compliance to the plans and specifications
  • Punch list reports and determines corrective measures for on-site problems
  • General condition survey reports
  • Communicates all projects safety concerns
  • OEMs Vendor Data Book, Manufacturer data report, Inspection Test Plans for site activities.
  • Preservation checklist, On Site CE checklist (PED, and other as applicable)
  • Monitors performance of contractors
  • Defines equipment reliability strategy for rotating equipment and spare parts needs.
  • Assures MMS for rotating equipment is up to date before start u


Keys to success in this role

The best combination of experiences, skills and background is: 

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years in Oil & Gas, petrochemical (industry) as a Rotating engineer.
  • Prior Experience in Projects and TAs execution.
  • Knowledgeable with international standards, petroleum /petrochemical plant materials and equipment.
  • Experienced in maintenance work control, planning, reliability methodologies
  • Ability to communicate in English and Dutch and address groups of employees. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
