We are looking for a Maintenance FieldSupervisor Rotating to join our Maintenance Team at the Neste Rotterdam Refinery.


Job purpose
The plant has a maintenance department that is responsible for the planning and implementation of advanced maintenance systems. Maintenance and inspection are planned depending on the risk associated with the concerned section of the installation. Besides the daily maintenance works, the Maintenance Department also coordinates major Turnarounds (TA) and Shutdowns (SD).
The  “Maintenance Fieldsupervisor Rotating” works during daytime and will be part of the maintenance team and member of the call out team. During plant updates / unplanned shutdowns, there is a possibility that works will be executed 24/7. The primary task of the Maintenance Field supervisor Rotating is to support in maintaining all rotating equipment, in a safe and efficient way.

  • Provides Safety leadership 
  • Participates and leads in the contractor safety meeting
  • Audits “permits to work”


  • Supports the contracted Rotating team of technicians through the discipline foremen.
  • Supports and guides the contracted Rotating technicians in development of skills and knowledge.  
  • Aligns within maintenance department goals through cooperation with his discipline supervisor.
  • Reviews and supports that the field technicians are trained according to the training matrix.


  • Investigates malfunction reports
    • Technical review of the malfunction by field observations
    • Technical review of the malfunction by online trending
  • Based on the findings, defines a “TOS” ( Technical order statement ) as input in the ERP system.

Work preparation

  • Supports the discipline work preparators with technical input where requested. 
  • Supports and guides the multi-disciplinary works.
  • Participates and provides input to the scheduling meeting(s)
  • Possible participation as a maintenance discipline representative providing knowledge and experience to ensure safe execution, quality by  good front end loading; 
    • Projects.
    • Shutdown or turnaround activities. 
    • Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Creating or updating new or existing maintenance procedures.

Work execution

  • Ensures safe work execution conditions according to procedures.
  • Ensures and supports to achieve on time execution of planned work.
  • Provides quality assurance of the executed work. 
  • Work guidance of service suppliers with on site services.

Keys to success in this role

  • At least an MBO+ level of working and thinking with minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise and knowledge in a variety of rotating equipment, including compressors, turbines, pumps, blowers, etc.
  • Have knowledge of maintenance in rotating equipment in a similar environment
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to review vendor documents effectively.
