Turnaround Controls Lead
Rotterdam, ZH, NL
Everything we do at Neste serves one purpose: to create a healthier planet for our children. Over the past ten years, Neste’s transformation journey has taken the company from a local oil refining company to becoming a global leader in renewable and circular solutions.
Our purpose pushes us forward to search for new ways to reduce the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere, and to innovate circular solutions to reuse carbon again and again. Are you going to help us combat climate change?
We are looking for a Turnaround Controls Lead (TA Controls Lead) to join Neste’s global TA Center Of Excellence.
Currently Neste has production sites located in Finland, The Netherlands and Singapore. Each site plans regular outages, called turnarounds, of a unit, production line or even an entire site to execute work that cannot be executed safely on the run. The scope typically covers maintenance, inspections, catalyst exchanges, projects and repairs to ensure the plant complies with legislation and operates reliably during the next run. TA’s are always carefully planned well in advance, depending on their size and complexity.
To further develop Neste’s global TA competences and support our sites best, we are expanding the TACOE team with the position of ‘TA Controls Lead’. It concerns a global role with preferred working location in Neste’s office in The Netherlands (Maasvlakte) or Finland. You will report to the Head TA Center Of Excellence.
About the position
The purpose of the position is to develop, maintain and implement TA controls practices/tools, and to support the TA teams and sites to improve Neste’s TA performance. TA Controls covers at least integrated scheduling, planning, cost estimating and control, reporting, risk management and change management.
Other responsibilities:
- Define/enhance minimum TA Controls requirements and provide implementation support
- Develop/enhance methodology to assess TA Controls as part of the assurance reviews
- Participate in long-term site improvement plans to assess TA Controls gaps and determine improvement steps
- Develop and give training in TA Controls
- Develop/maintain TA Controls best practices
- Provide support/coaching to TA teams and sites in the planning and execution of TA’s as required
- Facilitate TA planning workshops (e.g. schedule/cost risk assessment, critical path review, cost estimate review)
- Support integrated scheduling activities to ensure early alignment with Investment Projects
- Participate actively in the global TA Network and connect (TA) controls experts within Neste
- Keep track of external developments in TA/project Controls and assess potential value for Neste, followed by implementation.
Education and experience
- At least an HBO/Bachelor working and thinking level
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in similar industries
- Experience in Turnaround planning and execution
- Experience with Turnaround assurance and benchmarking
- Experience with competence development in a similar (operations) excellence role is an advantage
- Experience with workshop facilitation is an advantage
Knowledge
- Turnaround management (planning phases, scope development, gate/assurance reviews, etc)
- Turnaround/project controls (integrated scheduling, planning, cost estimating and control, reporting, risk management and change management)
- General project management
- Scheduling and cost estimating/control tools (like Primavera)
We are aiming to gradually grow the TACOE team, to ensure the right balance between TA competences in the site teams and in the TACOE. Although the TACOE falls under NES, it is a global excellence team, supporting the Neste Business Units under the global Neste TA governance structure.
Occasional travel to the Neste locations will be part of the job (flying, different time zones and local climate).
