Country Controller (Senior Accountant)

 

to our Regional Finance team in Singapore.

 

Regional finance team has an important role to play in our growth journey and as a Country Controller, you will have local and regional responsibilities. Your primary responsibility is to overview and control the operations and finances of our local entities in Singapore, while concurrently supporting and eventually controlling our growth initiatives within the region. All these require cooperation with multiple stakeholders both locally and within the region as well as with the Headquarters in Finland.

 

To be successful in the role you combine proactive financial partnering with solid knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, and analysis. You are development oriented and possess technical skills to improve our accounting and reporting processes. You work in an independent and proactive way and can influence others without a formal position. You are able to take the lead and have a holistic approach on the financials but at the same time have an eye on those business critical details.

Your role in our team

 

  • Be responsible for the timely and accurate monthly financial closing and reporting of the specified entities (including inventory, transfer pricing, and cost allocations).
  • Track and resolve accounting problems and discrepancies as needed
  • Control and coordinate daily financial and compliance matters, review annual statutory financial statements and tax filings (GST & WHT), and act as the key point of contact for external auditors and local authorities.
  • Act as a solid and trusted finance partner for stakeholders, providing guidance on local regulatory requirements, IFRS, and direct/indirect tax issues.
  • Support the regional business by acting as a finance advisor in regional projects and supporting the implementation of new operating models.
  • Continuously develop our accounting and reporting processes, including supporting system implementations.
  • Have other ad hoc duties and reporting to perform and coordinate as assigned by direct superior

You will report to the Finance Manager in Neste Asia Pacific.

 

 

Keys to success in this role

 

The best combination of experiences, skills and background is

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Accountancy or ACCA
  • Minimum 5-8 years of related finance work experience
  • Solid financial accounting and reporting knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills and concern for quality
  • Strong problem solving and coordination skills
  • Good understanding of IFRS and local tax rules
  • Good working knowledge on ERP/accounting system, Microsoft Office and Google tools.
  • Service mindset with can-do attitude and passion for continuous development
  • Excellent co-operation, communication, and influencing skills
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team
  • Meticulous and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
