We are looking for you,

Process Control Engineer

to join our Technical Department, Process Control Engineering Team in Neste Tuas Singapore.

As the owner of the refinery process control systems, you will focus on ensuring operational availability, productivity, flexibility & safety through continuous process control improvement initiatives, process control optimization & troubleshooting where required.

In this job, you will also work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Safety and Other Engineering functions to strive for Operational Excellence through process improvement initiatives & projects.

Your role in our team

  • As the owner of the process control systems in the Pre-Treatment Units, Heat Treatment Unit & Tank farm, you will develop & improve refinery processes by following up, developing & executing modifications / improvements to the Distributed Control System (DCS), Safety Instrumented System (SIS) & other automation system applications
  • Troubleshoot process deviations and lead major non-conformance investigations to resolve problems related to process control applications or safety interlock systems.
  • Develop and drive alarm management workflow related to your area of responsibility.
  • Develop and drive management of change (MOC) as change manager for PCS & SIS modifications
  • Lead or support capital investment projects involving changes to the DCS, SIS or other automation system applications.
  • Ensure process safety through functional safety / periodic proof tests, standards and specifications development and risk evaluation processes (Process Hazard Analysis, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL etc…)
  • Process control systems related competence development at Singapore refinery in your area of responsibility.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and specifications related to process/plant control and automation logics.
  • Utilizes process monitoring & optimization management tools to optimize plant performance
  • Sharing and implementation of best practices and common initiatives from Rotterdam and Porvoo refineries.
  • Participate as proof test leads to execute SIS proof testing during unit turnarounds


Keys to success in this role / The best combination to succeed in this role

  • B Sc. or higher degree in chemical engineering or relevant field and understanding of Renewable products chemical processing unit operations and engineering.
  • At least 6 years of work experience in process control engineering and operations in the oil and gas, refining or petrochemical industry
  • Strong knowledge in Instrumentation and control design engineering management, engineering drawing interpretation ability
  • Process Control engineering application / operating skillsets on Emerson DCS and SIS is considered an advantage
  • Process Control experience on refining pre-treatment units, heat treatment units and/or tank farm operations is considered an advantage
  • Good understanding on functional safety lifecycle management (design, operations & maintenance) is considered an advantage
  • Responsible attitude and safety-oriented mindset
  • Strong problem solving, communication and computational thinking skills
  • Strong Interpersonal and planning skills
  • Good ability to influence in both local and global matrix organization with cultural awareness, performance driven and active networking attitude
