We are looking for

 

R&D Manager, Feedstock and Pretreatment

 

to lead our Feedstock and Pretreatment (F&P) team in Neste APAC Innovation Center Singapore.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable person to join the APAC Innovation Center to lead and develop the F&P team and the APAC Innovation Center. The team consists of researchers and research assistants/research specialists. An essential part of the team’s work is raw material/feedstock research, participation in technology development and offering expertise to supply chain including manufacturing site troubleshooting.

Your part in Neste journey

 

In your role, you will

  • Lead and Inspire: Provide strong leadership and coaching to the F&P team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

  • Develop Talent: Proactively develop team members through workforce planning, competence development, and performance management.

  • Manage Operations: Oversee the daily laboratory work and resource allocation, ensuring efficient and safe operations.

  • Drive Improvement: Continuously improve working processes, facility and R&D infrastructure, and laboratory safety.

  • Shape Strategy: Support and contribute to Neste's overall strategy in the APAC region.

  • Collaborate: Work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners to achieve shared goals.

 

You will work in cross-functional teams including other R&D line managers and project managers as well as stakeholders in the value chain, and also with external partners. Our work combines accountability, cooperation, and the desire to develop and renew. Working safely at all times is essential to all of us. You will report to the Head of APAC Innovation Center.


Keys to success in this role

 

The best combination of experiences, skills and background:

 

  • Education: Master's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., chemistry, chemical engineering).

  • Experience: At least 5 years of managerial experience in a relevant field.

  • Safety Focus: A proactive safety management mindset with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment in a laboratory working with flammable materials/hazardous chemicals. Holding the Hazardous Substances licence is an advantage.

  • Leadership: Proven people leadership and coaching skills with a passion for developing talent and foster creativity.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

  • Collaboration: Strong cooperation and stakeholder management skills.

  • Attitude: A proactive, can-do attitude with a strong sense of initiative.

 

We also value

  • International Experience: Experience working abroad and/or in a global environment.

  • Organisational Development: Experience in organisational development and process improvement.

  • Continuous Improvement: Experience in continuous improvement methodologies e.g. Lean/Six Sigma.

  • Innovation: Ability to foster creativity and drive innovation within the team.
