Safety Engineer

to join our Safety Team in the Singapore Refinery

You will focus on supporting and reporting to the Singapore Refinery Operational Safety Manager in the area of operational safety, workplace safety, Emergency and Crisis Management to deliver full compliance with Corporate Safety, local and regulatory safety requirements. In this job you will collaborate and work closely with the safety team, refinery engineers, supervisors and front-line personnel in Singapore and the Corporate Safety Team in Finland. 

You will provide your operational safety knowledge to our Refinery on matters of operational safety, such as Safety Leadership cultural shift, critical field controls & verifications, Contractor Safety, Workplace Safety & Health Committee, Fire Safety Management, Emergency Response and Crisis management.

In our Safety team, you will be required to support the Safety Manager and safety team in safety-related tasks and achieve our common goals. Together with you and your safety knowledge, we can make an impact today and keep our promises for tomorrow.

Your role in our team / in creating a sustainable future

Safety Engineer

  • Drive and execute operational safety, workplace safety, emergency response and crisis management 
  • Ensure refinery legal right to operate safely is delivered
  • Support refinery safety manager in strategic and tactical safety planning, implementation and execution of safety programs  

 

Operational Safety

 

  • Support and participate in refinery operational risk assessments, safety critical job and deviations reviews
  • Support corporate and refinery implementation of creating safety together to strengthen refinery safety cultural shift
  • Ensure the executions of critical safety risk controls, monitoring, trending, verifying and communicated for learnings & improvement

 

Workplace Safety

  • Together with refinery key stakeholders, implement contractors and suppliers safety management 
  • Support the Turnaround Safety Lead and team in turnaround planning, preparations executions and lesson learnt 
  • Support Workplace Safety & Health Committee initiatives and programs
  • Support and execute site fire safety management 

Incident Management

  • Participate as safety subject matter expert in incident investigation team, facilitate Safety department owned investigations or as directed
  • Prepare, maintain emergency response plan and execute training of company emergency response team to mitigate incidents, emergencies and compliance to National CERT Audits and Standard 
  • Support preparation of refinery crisis leader and crisis management team training and dive into the role and responsibility of crisis management team support during crisis 


Keys to success in this role / The best combination to succeed in this role

  • Minimum 6 years of safety working experience in the oil, gas or petrochemical industry 
  • Experienced to support and operationalise workplace safety, fire safety, emergency response and crisis management
  • Good understanding of local WSH regulations and have experience dealing with local regulators such as MHD, MOM, SPF, SCDF, etc.
  • Good communication, writing and analytical skill
  • Recognized Bachelor Degree in Safety or similar, master degree in Safety highly desired
  • Registered  WSHO and FSM, Noise Monitoring Officer added advantage
