Senior Project HSE Engineer

to join our global Project HSE team and this position is located in Tuas South, Singapore.

 

We have a medium size team of process safety professionals working in Investment Project Execution Governance organisation - part of the HSEQ Function and global Project HSE team. Our team is mainly responsible for implementation of Neste HSE requirements in investment projects and ensuring processes, tools, competence and resources for the management of project HSE related issues for the whole project lifecycle. In addition we are responsible for facilitating and managing the lifecycle HAZOPs and LOPAs for our Renewable Products refineries in Singapore and Rotterdam. We also support work on development of process hazard analysis (PHA) methods, tools and processes in cooperation with the Group Operational & Process Safety team and contribute to the update of corporate HSE standards and work instructions. 

 

In this role you will be  working as Senior Project HSE Engineer and have an overall responsibility of the Singapore projects and Management of the Life Cycle Hazops and PHA’s for Singapore. We offer a position being part of an experienced process safety team with the ability to further develop your skills to become a subject matter expert in process safety, learning both from the projects and refinery to further improve the safety design. HAZOP and LOPA facilitation is the core part of this job and significant experience of these is a must to succeed. You will be the first Project HSE Engineer located in Singapore hence, we need an experienced person who can work independently. In the position you will be well integrated with the IPEG Engineering team in Singapore and working in close cooperation with the operations and refinery process safety engineers but with a global touch. The other persons in the global Project HSE team are located in Finland and a few people in Rotterdam.

Your role in our team / in creating a sustainable future

  • Facilitate process hazard analyses (e.g. HAZOP, LOPA) and other PHA studies in investment projects

  • Responsible that legislative and company HSE requirements are implemented accordingly in investment projects

  • Consult project team and other stakeholders in process safety and fireproofing issues

  • Lead and report HSE activities of investment projects, training and actively communicate HSE related issues to the project organization and other stakeholders

  • Develop best practices related to process safety and process hazard analyzes in cooperation with other stakeholders

 

Keys to success in this role / The best combination to succeed in this role

  • Experience with Process Safety in engineering or in industry (10+ years)

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Chemical/Process engineering

  • Thorough understanding of process safety, risk management of high hazard chemical process industry

  • Thorough understanding of fire hazards and fireproofing practices in high hazard chemical process industry

  • Good competency of facilitating process hazard analysis (e.g. HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID)

  • LOPA expertise (SIL-classification)

  • Knowledge of HSE Standards related to safety design in Oil & Chemical plant industry (e.g. API, NFPA, ISO, GAP)

  • Ability to organize and lead HSE activities in investment projects

  • Fluent English skills, both written and spoken.

  • Consequence Analysis modeling Experience (PHAST)

  • PHA-PRO (PHA software) proficiency

  • Environmental Management Experience

  • Ability to learn new with a can do attitude

  • Thorough understanding of investment project lifecycle.

  • Experience of Leading and managing contractors/consultants in complex project environments
