We are looking for a HSSEQ engineer for our location in Sluiskil

 

Your part in Neste journey 
The purpose of this role is to ensure that HSSEQ activities and programs at the Sluiskil site are supported in the right manner and organised in daily business. The HSSEQ engineer works closely together with the dutch HSSEQ organisation and the local site management team to ensure that activities in the field of Health, Safety, Security, but also Environmental and Quality are handled properly in daily business to help the site to reach both it’s HSSEQ and business objectives. He/she supports his/her stakeholders to be compliant with the legal, permitting and Neste requirements and therefore helps to reach the set targets of the site.

 

Other main responsibilities are:

  • Help to improve and consolidate the HSSEQ performance and associated development activities at Sluiskil site
  • Support the implementation of the HSSEQ processes within the Sluiskil site and lead parts of the implementation
  • Support in maintaining compliance with HSSEQ processes on site, conducting audits and support for the development of sufficient and effective auditing processes
  • Provide expertise to analyse and to report the HSSEQ performance at Sluiskil and to prioritise development areas together with the involved stakeholders
  • Creation and continuous development of the monthly HSSEQ reporting for Sluiskil by using established tools, e.g. such as NCR and PowerPI
  • Support the further integration and continuous improvement of HSSEQ on site in daily work processes. By using leadership principles, the local stakeholders should be guided and if needed coached in the HSSEQ area
  • Collaboration with Rotterdam HSSEQ and the leadership team at Sluiskil to ensure the right level of sustainable HSSEQ performance in accordance with agreed performance plans
  • Support and lead new HSSEQ initiatives at Sluiskil (e.g. “I act safe” or “No harm together”), together with the involved local team
  • Active contribution in HSSEQ development at Sluiskil by actively networking also with HSSEQ experts at Rotterdam and from corp. HSSEQ, e.g. on common practices and processes, etc
  • Perform structured risk and root cause analyses, provide advice and draft risk management action plans
  • Ensure that relevant HSSEQ procedures are up to date and tailor made for the Sluiskil site
  • Be active in performing safety observations involving all relevant stakeholders on site
  • Analyse HSSEQ related training needs on site and assist in rolling out those trainings

 

 

You will report to the Head of HSSEQ in the Netherlands and you will work closely with the local site leadership team and line management in Sluiskil, the Neste HSSEQ organisation in the Netherlands, the RP Production leadership team and other Neste corp. HSSEQ functions.

Keys to success in this role

 

The best combination of experiences, skills and background is 

  • BSc relevant to this role with at least 5 to 7 years suitable experience  (HSSEQ, operations, projects) and technical expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and drive implementation of above mentioned issues in a key position
  • This role expects, but also enables, a high degree of personal freedom to actively shape and support the HSSEQ performance at the Sluiskil site, always keeping the “fit for purpose” approach in mind.
  • Proven capability of reaching results and driving change with sustainable improvements
  • Strong competence with HSSEQ knowledge and good understanding of relevant laws, regulations and also Neste internal standards
  • Able to work in a structured way is expected; prior experience in using management tools would be a benefit
  • Hands-on experience in occupational health and safety, but also solid experience in management system related topics, processes and practices is a must. Experience in environmental area that are above the basic requirements is a benefit.
  • Pronounced technical expertise in the areas of Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality.
  • You need to be able to speak Dutch on professional level.
