Data Engineer

to our Marketing & Services business unit Data, Analytics, Insights team in Tallinn, Estonia.

As a Data Engineer, you will be crucial in ensuring our organization can make informed, data-driven decisions. You'll lead the development and maintenance of data pipelines, guaranteeing the smooth and reliable delivery of accurate data. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders in marketing, finance, sales, and customer service, as well as managing external consultants.

More about the job

Your role in our team 

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and models, specifically in Azure (incl. Snowflake) and Google Cloud.

  • Collaborate actively with business stakeholders, managing external consultants, as well as working closely with the Neste IT and Master data teams to deliver reliable and scalable data solutions.

  • Select and apply appropriate data engineering methods, tools, and technologies within approved architectural guidelines.

  • Prioritize and implement technical improvements to enhance data quality, performance, and maintainability without separate business approval following company guidelines


The best combination to succeed in this role

Know-how and experience:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field is required.

  • Data Expertise: You have practical experience building and maintaining data pipelines, with strong SQL skills. You are also experienced with data modeling and DataOps methodology, , specifically with dimensional and Data Vault 2.0, and Agile Data Engine.

  • Technology Stack: You have experience with Azure, Google Cloud, or Snowflake. Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language is also key.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • You will need to effectively collaborate with various internal teams and external consultants. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are essential.

  • This role requires a tactical ability and business knowledge to influence others and make sound decisions.

  • You will be challenged to balance the business expectation for rapid delivery with the responsibility to build robust and high-quality data products.

  • You are a proactive and solution-oriented individual with the ability to lead your own work and prioritize tasks effectively


Other strengths we value

  • Experience with ETL processes, data pipeline development, and basic scripting (e.g., Python).

  • Experience with Data Science initiatives.

  • Experience with PowerBI or Qlik development.

  • Estonian or Finnish language skills.
